California was selected to host the 50th National Sweet Potato Convention and we are excited to have the opportunity to serve our industry by hosting this historic event. The California Sweet Potato Council was officially formed in January, 1977, when a small group of influential growers decided that an official, voluntary organization would benefit the industry. Prior to 1977, marketing efforts were done mainly through the Farm Bureau or by individual growers. The council is located in Merced County, which is the fifth largest Ag county in the state and sixth in the nation.
The main objective of the Council is, "To put together polices and programs which enhance the Sweet Potato industry in California". For more information about the council, please visit our website; www.cayam.com
